About Empirical Edge

Empirical Edge Inc. is a custom software development company based in Marlton, New Jersey. We design, build and maintain web applications, mobile apps, eCommerce stores and content-managed websites for small and mid-sized businesses across the United States. Core stacks are .NET, PHP, Java, Python, WordPress, nopCommerce and Magento, AI with iOS, Android and cross-platform mobile applications.

The company has been building software for more than 20 years. Our founder holds an MS in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology and is a Microsoft Certified Application Developer; the team has delivered over 600 projects across healthcare, legal, real estate, retail, hospitality and professional services.

Our office is at 10000 Lincoln Drive East, Suite 201, Marlton, NJ 08053. Our clients are in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, but we work with businesses anywhere in the United States. Meetings are in person for local clients and by video for everyone else.

We are a US-based team, and the project management, architecture, client communication and quality control are handled from our New Jersey office. Every engagement has a single US-based point of contact who is accountable for delivery.

Services and technologies

On the back end, we work primarily in .NET / ASP.NET Core and C#, PHP (Laravel, CodeIgniter), Java and Python. For content-managed sites, we use WordPress, DNN, Joomla and Drupal; for eCommerce, nopCommerce, Magento, Shopify and BigCommerce. Mobile apps are built natively for iOS and Android or cross-platform with Flutter and React Native. Front ends use Angular, React and modern JavaScript, on SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, hosted on Azure or AWS.

Yes. A large share of our work starts with someone else’s code. We begin with a code and infrastructure review, document what we find, stabilise anything urgent and then plan improvements in priority order. You do not have to rebuild from scratch to get reliable support.

Yes. We build native iOS and Android apps as well as cross-platform apps with Flutter and React Native, and progressive web apps where a store listing is not needed. Mobile projects usually include the back-end API, admin dashboard and App Store / Google Play submission.

Yes. We build and maintain online stores on nopCommerce, Magento, Shopify and BigCommerce, Drupal, including custom checkout flows, ERP and payment integrations, product-data migrations and B2B features such as customer-specific pricing and quote requests.

System integration is one of our core services. We connect applications to CRMs such as Salesforce and Zoho, accounting and ERP systems, payment providers, shipping carriers and third-party APIs, and we build the middleware and data pipelines that keep them in sync.

Yes. Projects can start with discovery and wireframes, move to visual design and clickable prototypes, and then into development — or we can work from designs your own team provides.

Process and timelines

With a free consultation. We discuss your goals, current systems and constraints, then send a written proposal with scope, deliverables, timeline and cost.

We work in short iterations or as per Client requests. After discovery and design, development is delivered in sprints of one to two weeks, each ending with a demo on a staging environment you can test. You see working software early and can adjust priorities as the project progresses.

It depends on scope. We usually deliver a content-managed business website in two to three weeks, an eCommerce store in four to five weeks, and a custom web or mobile application in four to six weeks. We give a specific timeline in every proposal and report progress against it weekly.

Yes. You get access to a staging environment where each completed feature is deployed, a shared task board showing what is in progress, and a weekly status update. Nothing is hidden until launch.

You do. On final payment, all custom code, designs and documentation produced for your project are assigned to you. Third-party libraries and platforms remain under their own licences, which we identify in the proposal.

The developer tests every feature, a second engineer reviews it, and we check it against the acceptance criteria before it reaches staging. Larger projects include automated tests and performance checks, and every launch follows a pre-release checklist covering security, backups, analytics and SEO basics.

Pricing and payment

Costs are driven by scope, complexity and integrations, so we quote each project individually after the consultation. As a guide, business websites typically start in the low five figures, eCommerce stores from the mid five figures, and custom applications vary widely with the number of user roles, workflows and integrations. Every proposal breaks the cost down by phase so you can see where the budget goes.

Both models are available. Well-defined projects are quoted at a fixed price with milestone payments. Ongoing development, support and projects where requirements will evolve are billed hourly or through a monthly. We recommend the model that gives you the most predictable cost for the work in question.

Fixed-price projects are usually split into milestone payments, with an initial payment to schedule the work and the balance tied to deliverables. Hourly and retainer work is invoiced monthly.

Dedicated developers

A dedicated developer works exclusively on your projects for an agreed number of hours per month, managed by us but directed by you. It suits businesses that need ongoing development capacity — a product roadmap, a backlog of enhancements, or an in-house team that needs specific skills — without hiring full-time staff.

.NET / C#, PHP / Laravel, Java, Python, WordPress, nopCommerce, Magento, Angular, React, iOS, Android, Flutter, SQL Server and MySQL database development, and DevOps on Azure and AWS. Tell us the stack and the role and we will propose a developer profile.

Engagements typically start at one month and can be scaled up, down, or paused with notice. Longer commitments are available at a lower monthly rate.

Support, hosting and security

Yes. Every project includes post-launch support. After that, maintenance plans cover monitoring, updates, security patches, backups and a monthly allowance of development hours, with a guaranteed response time.

Either. We can provision and manage hosting on Azure, AWS or a managed WordPress host under your account, or deploy to infrastructure you already own. In both cases, you keep ownership of the accounts and data.

Security is built into the process: secure coding practices, encrypted connections, role-based access, regular dependency updates, automated backups and, for applications that handle sensitive data, penetration testing before launch. We sign NDAs before discussing confidential requirements and can work within HIPAA, PCI-DSS and similar compliance frameworks.

Every site we build launches with clean, fast, mobile-first code, correct page titles and structured data, an XML sitemap and analytics in place. Ongoing SEO and content work is available as a separate service.
